An audiovisual electro-pop project that plunges the listener into a synthetic world of complex human emotions and post-cultural nostalgia, Make & Model is the brainchild of Philadelphia's Brian Hall (also of Philly psych-rock outfit Grubby Little Hands).
Devices evolve. However, from generation to generation, the human experience remains static – we love, we lust, we yearn, we update, we remember. Make & Model's debut EP Channel Surfing suggests an entity desperate to communicate, but overwhelmed amidst endless streams of collective information and obsolete memories. Venturing beyond the precipice of the Uncanny Valley, where technology and pathos converge, Channel Surfing offers a convincing argument that the same algorithms which imprison you can still produce moments of both connection and a certain vocoded romanticism. Make & Model's Channel Surfing released May 11, 2018 via Good Behavior Records. The EP's lead single, "Change Of Heart", premiered with Brightest Young Things, who said it has "Daft Punk vocals with a more subtle head nod." Treble premiered the second single, "That Summer", pinning it at "the cross section between Dead Cities-era M83 and Laurie Anderson." |
